Who we are

Union is the UKs leading speciality coffee roaster, sourcing high quality coffee direct from farmers in 14 countries via our pioneering model Union Direct Trade, roasting it in East London and distributing it to cafes, retailers and homes across the UK for coffee lovers to enjoy.

We are focused on quality and sustainability across everything we do. Our sourcing model won The Queen’s Award for Enterprise in 2017, and to date, we’ve had a positive impact on over 65,000 coffee farmers and their families. We have applied for B-Corp status and have a strong focus on environmental sustainability in our operations.

We’re proud roasters for some of Britain’s finest cafes and restaurants, as well as supplying to retailers to sell to home consumers. Our coffee is also available roasted fresh to order for coffee drinkers at home via our online shop. You can also find us up in our own cafe, Union Brew Lab, in the centre of Edinburgh.

Our inclusive, diverse team of Unionistas consists of around 70 people passionate about coffee, and most of this smiley bunch are based in East London, at our roastery (yes, it does smell like coffee!).


What you will be doing

You will be responsible for managing customer machine servicing needs including proactive and reactive call outs. Duties will include managing the diary of Union’s engineers as well as booking external engineers where needed and maintaining our customer service portals.

You will be responsible for processing all equipment orders submitted and ensuring that the appropriate deadlines are met (including the raising of purchase orders and booking the appropriate couriers).

You will be responsible for all equipment and servicing invoicing.

You will be helping with the management of day to day stock items, raising relevant purchase orders. In addition, you will be responsible for helping co-ordinate procurement activities across the business.


You'll have:

  • Some previous experience in Sage software programmes (preferable but not essential)
  • Strong and regular user of Excel and Word
  • Interest in coffee industry/ food
  • Strong organisation and prioritisation skills
  • Fantastic communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure – a self-starter with a proactive nature
