Juicy and refreshing

A juicy, refreshing coffee with notes of wild strawberry, lemon balm and cane sugar, grown by third-generation farmer Abrar Zoheb in India’s Western Ghats.
Roast
This coffee is a light roast. Roast level influences the flavour and body of coffee. Darker roasts are fuller bodied, lighter roasts brighter. The beans are light brown in colour (unsurprisingly), it will retain more of the natural flavour of the coffee. This can result in a higher acidity and may often show more fruit and floral notes. This roast style means the quality of the coffee shines through the best.
Best Brewed As
espresso
This coffee is best brewed as an espresso (coffee shop type machine or a bean to cup). All our coffees can be brewed using any method, but this is our recommendation for a method which suits the coffee particularly well.
filter
This coffee is best brewed as a filter (cafetiere, pour over, aeropress, drip, etc.). All our coffees can be brewed using any method, but this is our recommendation for a method which suits the coffee particularly well.

More about this microlot

This distinctive microlot comes from Hospura Estate in the Baba Budan Giri coffee-growing region of India’s Western Ghats, where Abrar Zoheb manages the farm alongside his father, Parveez Ahmed.

A third-generation coffee farmer, Abrar chose to return to coffee after completing his degree in civil engineering in 2016. Today, he grows coffee in traditional polyculture shade, surrounded by a diverse mix of native and endemic trees that provide habitat for birds, butterflies and mammals, including the Nilgiri Flowerpecker, Malabar Parakeet, Chital and Flying Squirrel.

Abrar also collects monsoon rainwater in a small reservoir to irrigate the coffee during drier months, and has established a nursery near the washing station to develop new seedlings.

Processed using an anoxic natural method, the coffee develops a juicy, refreshing character, with notes of wild strawberry, lemon balm and cane sugar.
