Roast
This coffee is a light roast. Roast level influences the flavour and body of coffee. Darker roasts are fuller bodied, lighter roasts brighter. The beans are light brown in colour (unsurprisingly), it will retain more of the natural flavour of the coffee. This can result in a higher acidity and may often show more fruit and floral notes. This roast style means the quality of the coffee shines through the best.
Quality Score
85.25
Coffee scoring over 80 on Speciality Coffee Association scale is considered High Quality, Speciality Coffee.
Best Brewed As
espresso
This coffee is best brewed as an espresso (coffee shop type machine or a bean to cup). All our coffees can be brewed using any method, but this is our recommendation for a method which suits the coffee particularly well.
filter
This coffee is best brewed as a filter (cafetiere, pour over, aeropress, drip, etc.). All our coffees can be brewed using any method, but this is our recommendation for a method which suits the coffee particularly well.
Processing Method
This coffee was processed using the washed method. Post-harvest processing influences the taste profile. Washed coffees are brighter, naturally processed are sweeter and honey processed are somewhere in between.

More about this microlot

From the high peaks of Huehuetenango, Guatemala, comes José Fernando - a coffee with heart and heritage. Grown on Finca La Montaña, this farm is the life’s work of José Fernando López Serrano, who has dedicated over 25 years to producing exceptional coffee. With his wife Cristina and their three daughters, José tends to the farm with a vision of building a lasting legacy for his family and community.

At 1,800-2,050 metres above sea level, La Montaña’s cool mountain climate produces coffees with remarkable clarity and balance. Expect a juicy red apple acidity, layered with creamy milk chocolate and the natural sweetness of brown sugar. More than just a delicious cup, this coffee reflects the spirit of Huehuetenango - resilience, innovation and deep care for the land.
