Flavour Category
fruit fruit
High quality coffee has wide ranging, naturally occurring taste notes. The dominant flavour profile in this coffee is Fruit. Many coffees have fruity notes, not surprising considering that coffee beans are seeds of a fruit. Naturally processed coffees are often fruity as the method enables more of the sugars in the fruit are absorbed in the beans.
Roast
This coffee is a light roast. Roast level influences the flavour and body of coffee. Darker roasts are fuller bodied, lighter roasts brighter. The beans are light brown in colour (unsurprisingly), it will retain more of the natural flavour of the coffee. This can result in a higher acidity and may often show more fruit and floral notes. This roast style means the quality of the coffee shines through the best.
Quality Score
85.5
Coffee scoring over 80 on Speciality Coffee Association scale is considered High Quality, Speciality Coffee.
Best Brewed As
espresso
This coffee is best brewed as an espresso (coffee shop type machine or a bean to cup). All our coffees can be brewed using any method, but this is our recommendation for a method which suits the coffee particularly well.
filter
This coffee is best brewed as a filter (cafetiere, pour over, aeropress, drip, etc.). All our coffees can be brewed using any method, but this is our recommendation for a method which suits the coffee particularly well.
Processing Method
This coffee was processed using the washed method. Post-harvest processing influences the taste profile. Washed coffees are brighter, naturally processed are sweeter and honey processed are somewhere in between.

More about this microlot

A cup that captivates with notes of strawberries and cream, a jammy richness, and a luxuriously syrupy texture.

This exceptional microlot hails from the lush hills of northern Burundi, near the Rwandese border. It’s crafted by Dusangirumugambi -a cooperative of smallholder coffee farmers, in Kayanza province, whose name means “to share common goals.” Since 2015, they’ve been redefining what coffee can mean for a community: trading direct to retain greater value, championing quality, and empowering local voices.

Their commitment to high-quality, runs deep. From meticulous cherry selection to hand-sorting at every stage, their fully washed coffees reflect care in every cup. Beyond the cup, Dusangirumugambi is a force for change - engaging youth, promoting gender equality, and supporting a women’s savings fund. We’re proud to share their story through this standout lot.

We are the home of fresh coffee. When you order online, your coffee is roasted fresh to order, especially for you. Plus, it’s specialty grade and traded ethically through Union Direct Trade.
