Bright Note, The coffees in this blend...
There are currently 2 producers that provide the coffees that make up our Bright Note Blend.
Firstly Timaná is a municipality located in the South of Huila, Colombia, surrounded by the Central and Cordillera Central and Occidental ranges of the Colombian Andes. The area boasts good soils and high altitude - the perfect environment for growing speciality coffee. The ASPROTIMANA co-operative was formed by 32 farmers in 2001, and now boasts over 220 members with a common goal to create socio-economic stability for coffee farming families in the region.
The Primavera farm is the largest farm that Union sources from. Primavera, translating to ‘Spring’ in Portuguese refers to the perfect climate in which to grow coffee on the farm. With temperatures between 20 and 24 degrees Celsius and an average precipitation of 1,000 to 1,300 mm per year. Social and environmental sustainability have always been integral to the farm’s operations. Coffee pulp is composted to produce natural fertiliser and the Primavera team also conducts outreach to neighbouring farmers to share knowledge and best practices.
